Jackson Trail/Mid State Trail
National Trails Day Hike

I had advertised this hike for a few months on http://www.hikepa.com but I didn't know what to expect in regards to turnout. To my delight, about 10 people showed up, on time, ready to hike.

I decided on the Jackson Trail for a National Trails Day hike for a few reasons. First, the Jackson isn't so popular that it gets crowded. Second, there is easy access on both ends for a shuttle hike, and last, it offers some of the best views in the area.

The hike actually went beyond the Jackson Trail to the Mid State Trail, and ended in the Shingletown Gap, taking several of the blazed trails there. All in all, it covered about 8 miles in a little over 4 hours.

Since I have a number of other descriptions of the Jackson Trail, and the MST in the area, I won't bore you with details, but the weather was nice, the views were excellent, and we had a lot of fun :-)
